My kids (the youngest anyway) have been bugging me to go on a hike to look for deer this father's day like we did last year. Nevermind that we've never been on a hike to look for deer. We did see a deer on a hike to Skunk Harbor last year (nowhere near father's day), and I finally realized that's what she was talking about. Anyway, I thought it would be good to list some outdoor activities for father's day.
Keep in mind there is still a lot of snow left in the backcountry, so hikes like Tallac or anything from Carson Pass is pretty much out (in fact, we skied at Carson Pass on wednesday).
Let's start with the obvious.
1. Skunk Harbor is an excellent choice. I may see you there.
2. Emerald Bay - Vikingsholm and Lower Eagle falls is another great choice.
3. Sawmill Pond fishing - Kids 14 and under only are allowed to fish, license or not.
4. Cascade Falls
5. Fallen Leaf Lake - Great fishing in the lake or hiking above the lake
6. Disc Golf at Bijou, Zephyr Cove, or Truckee
7. Rafting - Easy float down the upper Truckee from Elks Club to the Keys or the Truckee from Fannette Bridge to Alpine Meadows Road. If you really want to treat dad, take him on the American.
8. Bike ride to Pope Beach, and then to Camp Rich for ice cream.
9. Convince him he want's to go see Cars, I hear great things.
Please add more
