The Nissan Mammoth Challenge

The first few weeks of January mark a first for the eastern Sierra resort of Mammoth and the surrounding area. the brand new Freeride World Tour will hold it's inaugural event on the slopes of Mammoth as well as in the nearby backcountry on McGee Mountain (interactive picture map). The Freeride World Tour is a series of events culminating in a World Championship held in Verbier, Switzerland. Mammoth is hosting the Nissan Open, and the Nissan Quest, both of which serve as a pipeline for competitors from within each discipline to reach the Mammoth Challenge. The Nissan Challenge is held on Mount McGee, with competitors being flown to the top for one run to prove their mettle. The results for the Mammoth Quest are posted here.
