Baldwin Beach
The Vitals - Located on FS land. Typically open mid to late May through October.
The third and last (as you head North) of the series of
southwest shore sandy beaches is Baldwin. The turnoff for Baldwin Beach
is clearly marked on Highway 89. There is a five dollar parking fee. Once in you have
the choice of the south or north beach. Both are very similar, except
that Tallac Creek meets Lake Tahoe at the north beach, which is interesting
for the kids. Beware! There are fence posts in the creek that for some
reason still have barbed wire attached. On the north side of the creek
you will almost always notice a lot of boats parked/moored/anchored. This is commonly
referred to as Ski Beach (not to be confused with Ski Beach in Incline
Village since everyone's welcome here). Unlike Kiva Beach to the south, there are very few, if any, rocks in the water at Baldwin Beach. Additionally, unlike Pope Beach, there is no shade here. Dogs are not allowed. They are strict about this but you typically can take them on a leash to to ski beach, where they are ok.
