Annual Events

Lake Tahoe is host to many nationally and internationally recognized events every year in addition to some very special events of local flavor. Below you will find links to more information about many of those events. Got an event?

Sporting Events
America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride - Always the first Sunday in June, this year's ride is on June 7, 2009. This event is sold out. Registration for next year's race will begin in January, 2010.

Tour de Tahoe - Once organizers realized America's Most Beautiful bike Ride simply wasn't big enough, they added another date at the end of the Summer. This year's Tour de Tahoe is on September 13, 2009.

Lake Tahoe Marathon - Events are scheduled for September 23-27, 2009. The race is September 27. This event just keeps getting bigger and better.

DeCelle Memorial Relay - This years 44th running of the 7 leg relay race around the lake will be June 13, 2009.

American Century Celebrity Golf Championship -July 13 -18, 2010.

North American Freeskiing Championships - March 3-7, 2010.

Festivals and Shows
Lake Tahoe Snow Festival - Often called "Mountain Mardi Gras", this event spans the North Shore.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival - This year's festival at Sand Harbor (July 11-August 23, 2009) will feature two classics, 'Measure for Measure' and 'Much Ado about Nothing' plus the always popular The D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program providing 15 free matinees suitable for children. Another special treat is the Urban Village Series providing live music lakeside on Monday nights.

Wildflower Festival at Kirkwood- Great way to spend a day.

Fireworks (photo gallery) July 4th and Labor Day (Sunday night).

Lake Tahoe Air Show - August 29, 2009. Free show. Includes military aircraft, aerobatics, Parking is $10/car but bus rides are free from the transportation terminal at the Y.

Kokanee Salmon Festival - Held early in October the festival celebrates the spawning of the Kokanee Salmon in Taylor Creek. This is a great event for the whole family. There's more to it than the salmon run including several trail runs. (October 3-4, 2009)

Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance - Highlight of the annual Wooden Boat Week, this is not your ordinary boat show. This years show is June 19-21, 2009.

Lake Tahoe Music Festival - This series of concerts along Tahoe's northwest shore (and Donner Lake) runs from July 23-August 8, 2009

Oktoberfest - Held at Camp Richardson each year.

Valhalla Renaissance Faire - Held at Camp Richardson (not Valhalla), this event for the whole family spans two consecutive weekends. The 2009 faire is May 30th and 31st, June 7thand 8th.
