Cat Skiing in Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe has always been lacking in the assisted backcountry access department. In the past several years, this has started to change. As of winter 2004/05 we are scheduled to have working cat operations on both the North Shore and the South Shore. In general you need to have strong intermediate skills to enjoy the untracked powder your almost sure to find.

Pacific Crest Snowcats will take you to the wild terrain between Squaw Valley and Truckee. Reservations are highly recommended.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort is offering cat skiing on weekends this year. The terrain offerred will be in the Red Cliffs area, pictured below. Expansion to the Martin Point area is likely in the future.
