Silver Oak Golf Course
Silver Oak is one of the newer courses in Carson City, opening in 2004. I've played it twice, and was very happy both times. Fortunately, I don't let my score get in the way of a good round. Like many of the other Carson Valley courses, it takes advantage of the hilly terrain for some interesting holes. Unlike courses like SunRidge, or Eagle Valley West, however, there aren't really any blind shots as a result of this. The closest to this would be Hole 2, but I don't think anyone would call it an unfair hole. Every time I've played, the course has been in immaculate condition. On top of that, it's a great value (currently, green fees top out at only $50). The best time to play is fall and spring. Summers can be pretty hot. Winter can be good, but you can't tee off til the frost is gone, and many days it doesn't ever leave.
