3 and 4 Season Tents

When buying a tent you'll need to choose between a three season or four season tent and the number of people that will use it. The first part is easy. Will you camp in winter (I mean here in Tahoe, not in Florida)? If so, you probably need a 4 season tent. As far as the number of people go, I always like to take the manufacturers suggestion and then subtract one. The exceptions to this rule are when you are camping with your significant other or when its a one man tent. Other important considerations are the size of the vestibule, venting, weight, material, number of entrances, and ease of set up. Obviously, if you are car camping, weight is not an issue. We are mostly talking about tents for the backcountry here. If you're camping in the snow you should also think about snow stakes for anchors.
